Mobile Propulsion and Fixed Power Production with Near-Zero Atmospheric Emissions

چکیده
1. ABSTRACT: The US Military needs reliable, secure, and low-environmental impact sources of base and shore power for its installations. US Navy ships need generating systems for main propulsion, on-board power, catapults, heat/air conditioning, and other applications. These needs can be met with a unique, drive-gas generator that produces a high enthalpy mixture of high purity steam and carbon dioxide (CO2), with little or no nitrogen or sulfur oxides (NOx, SOx), volatile organic compounds (VOCs), or particulate material in the effluent. The steam mixture (5-10% CO2) exits the power cycle as pure water and readily captured CO2. This system can burn a wide range of fuels with oxygen, and is applicable for fixed and mobile applications. It could be used in fixed-base and shipboard power systems, or be incorporated into improved-efficiency steam power plants.

Integrated Power Management System for Zero-energy building: Techno-Economic Analysis
A complete understanding of the limits, barriers, and equipment available for the use of national energy resources is essential. This will increase the use of existing regional energy potential and pave the way for sustainable development. In this study, the Green Cottage power management system from a renewable energy source was designed and evaluated using a decision-making algorithm. Thirtee...
متن کاملPerformance Evaluation of the High-altitude Launch Technique to Orbit Using Atmospheric Properties
The purpose of this paper is to perform the feasibility and performance evaluation of the High-altitude launch technique using high altitude atmospheric Properties to near earth orbits. The current propulsion transportation system from Earth to space has been deemed by many to be expensive, unreliable, and an unnecessarily dangerous means of travel to space. It is suggested in this paper to ana...
متن کاملLasers in space.
A variety of laser applications in space, past, present, future and far future are reviewed together with the contributions of some of the scientists and engineers involved, especially those that happen to have South African connections. Historically, two of the earliest laser applications in space, were atmospheric LIDAR and lunar ranging. These applications involved atmospheric physicists, se...
متن کاملCoping with carbon: a near-term strategy to limit carbon dioxide emissions from power stations
Burning coal to generate electricity is one of the key sources of atmospheric carbon dioxide emissions; so, targeting coal-fired power plants offers one of the easiest ways of reducing global carbon emissions. Given that the world’s largest economies all rely heavily on coal for electricity production, eliminating coal combustion is not an option. Indeed, coal consumption is likely to increase ...
متن کاملMulti-Objective Stochastic Programming in Microgrids Considering Environmental Emissions
This paper deals with day-ahead programming under uncertainties in microgrids (MGs). A two-stage stochastic programming with the fixed recourse approach was adopted. The studied MG was considered in the grid-connected mode with the capability of power exchange with the upstream network. Uncertain electricity market prices, unpredictable load demand, and uncertain wind and solar power values, du...
